Position Summary

We are seeking a passionate and spiritually mature individual to serve as our Children's Ministry Director. This role is vital to nurturing the faith of our youngest members, from infants through 6th grade, by creating a Christ-centered, safe, and engaging environment where children can grow in their relationship with Jesus. The Children's Ministry Director will also partner with parents by equipping, encouraging, and supporting families as they seek to disciple their children and build a strong biblical foundation in the home.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the children's ministry programming.

• Recruit, train, and encourage servant leaders for children's ministry roles.

• Select and implement biblically sound curriculum aligned with the mission and doctrine of Calvary Baptist Church.

• Foster a welcoming and safe environment for children and their families for the following times and events:

  • Sundays: Bible Fellowship Classes, Children’s Church, Sunday Evening Small Groups

  • Wednesday Nights

    • Awana (school year) Oversee and collaborate with current leadership to continue strengthening the ministry.

    • Summer programming: provide Bible teaching and activities for children while Awana is off for the summer.

  • Vacation Bible School – Oversee and collaborate with current leadership to continue strengthening the ministry.

  • Kid’s Summer Camp at Highland Lakes or another approved camp.

  • Children’s Christmas Program and other seasonal events.

  • Activities

    • Plan and coordinate at least six children’s ministry activities each year.

    • Include a balance of family-focused events that encourage parents and children to participate together and kid-focused events that provide opportunities for children while parents have time together (i.e. parents night out).

  • Attend sporting events and other extracurricular activities with the purpose of supporting children and engaging their families.

  • Seek to be involved in local schools through volunteer opportunities that engage children.

• Assist with other ministry-related tasks and responsibilities as needed or assigned.

 

Communication & Collaboration

• Communicate regularly with parents and those serving in children’s ministry through text, email, Planning Center, and other appropriate platforms.

• Collaborate and update pastoral staff to ensure children’s ministry and events align with the overall mission of Calvary Baptist Church.

• Promote children’s ministry events through church bulletins, social media, and other channels

 

Administration

• Maintain accurate records of attendance, volunteer schedules, and child safety protocols.

• Ensure compliance with church policies, including background checks and child protection guidelines.

• Manage the children’s ministry budget and resources responsibly.

• Evaluate ministry needs and help develop resources that strengthen and expand children’s ministry.

 

Media and Technology

• Assist/manage church social media platforms. (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)

• Assist with creating weekly promotional videos highlighting upcoming sermons and church events.

• Assist with graphic design as needed.

 

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in ministry, education, or a related field and/or significant experience working in children ministry to be reviewed upon receiving resume.

• A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a call to ministry.

• Agreement with the statement of faith and core values of Calvary Baptist Church.

• Experience working with children in a church or ministry setting.

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to recruit and lead those serving with grace and encouragement.

• High level of integrity, dependability, and spiritual maturity.

• Experience with social media, photography, Planning Center, Canva, or ProPresenter.

 

Compensation

• Total Estimated Compensation Package: $48,000

• Salary: $24,000 annually

• Church parsonage: $20,000 annual value

• Paid Utilities: $4,000 annual value

  • Includes: Gas, Electric, Water, Sewer, Wi-Fi, and Trash Pickup
