Our Pastor
David Schrock is the pastor of Calvary Baptist Church. He is married to Wendy, and they have one son, Titus (b. 2008) and Silas (b. 2010). After serving as interim pastor at Calvary, Pastor David was called to serve as pastor in December 2009 and was ordained in January 2010.
Pastor David is a graduate of Albion College in Michigan, where he majored in Exercise Science and minored in Religious Studies. In college, he ministered with Campus Crusade for Christ and pioneered the ministry of Athletes in Action–two ministries that continue to share the message of Christ at Albion College. After college, he spent two years in Chattanooga, TN, participating in the SALT Institute at Woodland Park Baptist Church and working with Fellowship of Christian Athletes at the University of Tennessee–Chattanooga. In 2008, he received his Master of Divinity from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, where currently he is also pursuing a doctoral degree in theology. Before coming to Calvary, Pastor David preached in various youth, collegiate, and church ministries.
Pastor David is committed to the expositional teaching of the Bible. He has a desire for people to find their greatest joy in Christ as they grow in their understanding of God’s Grace & Truth. The Great Commission is at the heart of his ministry–reaching out to the community of Seymour with the good news of Jesus Christ and seeing Christians grow as genuine disciples of Christ. He is also committed to helping husbands and wives build their families on the solid rock of Jesus Christ, as well as, seeing children and youth grow up as godly followers of Christ.
Pastor David blogs at www.viaemmaus.wordpress.com and reviews books for The Gospel Coalition Book Reviews.
